After heavy rains hit the UAE last week, Sharjah Police has launched an initiative to help senior citizens and people of determination cope with the after effects of the unstable weather.

The initiative helps them get replacement vehicle license plates lost during the weather conditions, with delivery directly to their homes without the need to visit service centers.

The initiative will run for three days starting Sunday, March 29.

Beneficiaries can request replacement plates by contacting the call centre at 901, with the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department handling all procedures, including printing the plates and delivering them to customers’ homes free of charge.

The initiative is aimed at helping these community members save time and effort, especially given the exceptional weather conditions, in line with current needs and to enhance community stability.

The authority urged senior citizens and people of determination to take advantage of this service, affirming their continued commitment to developing quality initiatives that improve service efficiency, strengthen the integration of the security and service system, enhance quality of life, and meet community expectations.

Meanwhile in Dubai, Dubai Police volunteers stepped in to support residents across neighbourhoods during the recent heavy rains, returning 279 lost vehicle number plates and helping recover 30 stranded cars from flooded areas.

A total of 49 volunteers from the ‘Your Neighbourhood Officer’ initiative were deployed across 77 locations, working alongside response teams in areas including Al Qusais, Bur Dubai, Al Muraqqabat, Al Barsha and Al Rashidiya.
