President Donald Trump recently appointed several Silicon Valley executives to serve on his science and technology panel, including Nvidia boss Jensen Huang, Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Oracle executive chair Larry Ellison.

The executives are part of a 13-person panel appointed by Trump to serve on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) which will weigh in on AI policies and other technology issues

“PCAST brings together the Nation’s foremost luminaries in science and technology to advise the President and provide recommendations on strengthening American leadership in science and technology”, according to a press release issued by the Trump administration.

The panel is co-chaired by White House AI czar David Sacks and office of science and technology policy head Michael Kratsios.

Other members of the panel include Oracle executive vice chair Safra Katz, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, AMD CEO Lisa Lu, Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Marc Andreessen, and Dell Technologies chairman and CEO Michael Dell.

Elon Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook are not among the list of initial members.

The panel could grow to a total of 24 members, with additional members set to be appointed soon, along with information about the council’s first meeting.

“Under President Trump, PCAST will focus on topics related to the opportunities and challenges that emerging technologies present to the American workforce, and ensuring all Americans thrive in the Golden Age of Innovation”.

The announcement follows the recent release of Trump’s national AI legislative framework, which seeks to create uniform security and safety guardrails while also attempting to pre-empt states from enacting their own rules.
