Tuesday morning saw UAE residents grabbing their umbrellas and raincoats again as a fresh wave of rains hit the country.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had earlier predicted two days of rain this week — March 31 and April 1. The department has issued an alert from 7.20am on March 31 to 12.20am on April 1 for the rains.

While the rains are expected to get heavy, the intensity will not match the downpour that residents faced last week.

    Warning to motorists

Police departments in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah have issued warnings to motorists navigating their way through reduced visibility and slick roads.

Here are some tips from Dubai Police:

    • Maintain a safe distance between vehicles.

    • Ensure that your tires, windshield wipers, and vehicle lighting are all in proper condition.

    • Reduce speed and drive calmly on wet roads.

    • Avoid sudden braking and exercise extra caution when approaching curves.

    • Stay away from valleys, flood channels, and areas with water accumulation.

    • Avoid going to the sea and beaches.

The police also said to stay alert and anticipate other motorists’ mistakes.

Abu Dhabi Police have advised caution and to pay attention to the changing speed limits displayed on electronic signboards.
