The NCM says internal areas could reach 50°C, with convective clouds bringing scattered rainfall to parts of the country.

Dubai: Temperatures are reaching 50°C today. Brace for a dusty day ahead, with a chance of rain in some parts of the UAE.

It’s going to be fair to partly cloudy today, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), with a chance of convective cloud formation by afternoon over some eastern and southern areas of the country, bringing scattered rainfall. Light to moderate winds, freshening at times will also cause blowing dust.

    Hot day ahead

The mercury is steadily climbing into the mid-40s across urban areas today, across the UAE, while inland areas are expected to get even hotter.

The NCM forecasts coastal and island areas to record highs of 41°C to 47°C, while internal areas will range between 45°C and 50°C.

Among major cities, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Umm Al Quwain will see peaks of 44°C. Sharjah will see a high of 43°C today, while Ajman will hit 42°C. Al Ain and Liwa are among the warmest regions today, with temperatures of 47°C and 48°C respectively.

    Sea conditions stay calm

If you’re heading to the beach, both the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman are expected to see slight conditions, which means gentle waves rising to a maximum of two feet on-shore, and three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:
