New AED50 coin features a portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed and celebrates the role of young people in advancing the UAE’s sustainable development journey
Abu Dhabi: The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has issued a commemorative silver coin to mark International Youth Day, celebrated annually on 12 August, in recognition of the vital role young people play in shaping the nation’s future and supporting its comprehensive development.
The commemorative coin weighs 60 grams and reflects the UAE’s commitment to empowering youth and strengthening their contribution to the country’s progress.
The coin’s obverse features a portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, alongside an excerpt from one of his poems in Arabic that reflects his vision of empowering young people, encouraging initiative, hard work and active participation in nation-building.
On the reverse side, the coin displays an image of the Central Bank of the UAE headquarters, together with its AED50 nominal value.
Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor for Banking Operations and Support Services at the CBUAE, said: “This issuance reflects the UAE’s profound appreciation for its youth. Inspired by the vision of the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who placed his trust in young generations and regarded them as partners in the nation’s building and development, the Central Bank reaffirms, through initiatives such as this, its commitment to strengthening national identity, raising awareness of the vital role youth play in supporting economic and financial stability, and fostering their active contribution to realising the nation’s future aspirations.”
The CBUAE said it will announce the launch date of the commemorative coin and details on how to obtain it through its official website and social media channels.
