Dubai will reach 40°C today, while Abu Dhabi climbs to 46°C as the NCM forecasts high humidity, fog and mist overnight and in the early mornings

Dubai: Temperatures are swinging back up into the mid-40s today, as humidity stays high, and fog and mist develop in the UAE, in the early morning hours.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather today, with convective cloud formation in eastern and southern regions of the country by the afternoon. These clouds are associated with rainfall, in areas stretching from Fujairah to Al Ain, and further south.

    Higher temperatures across the UAE

Coastal and island regions are set to experience highs between 37°C and 42°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 43°C to 47°C.

Dubai, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain will peak at 40°C today, while Sharjah will reach 42°C. Abu Dhabi will see the highest peak temperature today, of 46°C.

    Calm seas for beach activities

The NCM expects lights to moderate winds, freshening at times, with tranquil sea conditions in both the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf, from today through Sunday. So, it may be a good idea to include the beach in your weekend plans, as you can experience gentle waves, reaching heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.

    Weekend outlook

Saturday and Sunday will see similarly high temperatures, as well as a high relative humidity (RH) range of between 70% to 90%, according to the NCM. This means you can expect fog and mist to form overnight and during the early morning hours, causing visibility to drop sharply. The NCM advises being cautious when driving in such conditions.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

    Dubai 40°C 32°C

    Abu Dhabi 46°C 32°C

    Al Ain 44°C 33°C

    Sharjah 42°C 32°C

    Ajman 40°C 31°C

    Fujairah 36°C 31°C

    Ras Al Khaimah 42°C 32°C

    Umm Al Quwain 40°C 32°C

    Liwa 45°C 30°C
