An IndiGo flight from Tamil Nadu’s Trichy to Singapore, carrying 127 passengers, returned to Trichy International Airport on Friday after developing a technical snag mid-air, forcing the aircraft to circle over the area for around two and a half hours before landing safely.

The flight, which departed from Trichy at around 6.40pm, remained in the air for nearly two and a half hours after the technical issue was detected. Airport officials remained in continuous communication with the pilots as the aircraft circled in the air and reduced its fuel before returning to the airport.

The aircraft eventually landed at Trichy International Airport at around 9 pm, according to Airport Director Gopalakrishnan. He said the aircraft was brought back to the airport after necessary preparations were made for a safe landing. Airport authorities had been coordinating with the flight crew throughout the incident.

The Airport Director also stated that an alternative flight had been arranged for the passengers, and that all 127 passengers would be accommodated on the alternate aircraft and flown to Singapore.
