Average daily traffic expected to reach 222,000 passengers as Dubai Airports ramps up operations to manage one of the busiest travel periods of the year

Dubai: Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing to handle approximately 3.7 million passengers during the peak travel period associated with the return of travellers from summer holidays, according to Dubai Airports.

Majid Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Airports, said average daily passenger traffic is expected to reach around 222,000 passengers, with transit travellers accounting for approximately 46% of total passenger movement during the period.

Al Joker said operational teams are working around the clock to ensure the smooth movement of passengers and maintain high service standards during the seasonal surge.

He noted that preparations extend beyond managing increased passenger volumes and ensuring operational efficiency, encompassing the entire airport journey from arrival procedures and baggage claim operations to ground transportation services.

“Our teams are working continuously not only to manage the rise in passenger numbers and maintain operational efficiency, but also to respond to any changes that may occur across airport operations,” Al Joker said.

He added that the airport’s readiness strategy focuses on delivering a seamless and high-quality travel experience in addition to maintaining operational performance.

Dubai International Airport remains one of the world’s busiest international aviation hubs, with extensive transit traffic forming a significant part of its passenger activity.

The expected surge reflects the seasonal return of residents, visitors and students following the summer holiday period, traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for the airport.
