Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) issued 119,188 driving licences during the first half of 2026, according to figures released by the authority.
The total included 96,400 new driving licences and 22,788 replacement licences issued to holders of driving licences from recognised countries who exchanged them for UAE driving licences.
According to the RTA, the figures reflect growing demand for licensing services in the emirate, supported by population growth, increased economic activity and Dubai’s position as a preferred destination for living, working and investment.
The authority said the growth in licensing activity coincides with ongoing efforts to develop an integrated driver training system based on the latest training and assessment methods.
The RTA added that it is continuing to adopt smart technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance road safety and promote a culture of safe driving across all segments of society.
