Dubai: Watch out for blowing dust today, as winds pick up speed across the UAE.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather, in general, with a probability of some convective cloud formation eastward and northward, associated with rainfall. This means areas like Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah can expect to see scattered rain today.

    Blowing dust

However, light to moderate southeasterly to northwesterly winds, with an average speed of 10 to 25km/h, will pick up speed to 40 km/h at times in internal areas. The NCM expects gusts to kick up dust in open and exposed areas.

Stay cautious if you get caught in these sudden dust squalls – the authorities advise covering your nose and mouth in such situations, and keeping doors and windows locked to prevent dust from getting indoors.

    Mid-30s weather

Temperatures are holding steady in the mid-30s. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will reach a high of 37°C today, while Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 36°C. Umm Al Quwain will top out at 34°C, and Fujairah at 33°C. Ajman will remain the coolest emirate, at 32°C.

    Slight sea conditions

The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea, at the start of the week.

The NCM forecasts wave heights reaching up to two feet on-shore, and up to three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

    Dubai 36°C 23°C

    Abu Dhabi 37°C 24°C

    Al Ain 35°C 24°C

    Sharjah 37°C 24°C

    Ajman 32°C 24°C

    Fujairah 33°C 26°C

    Ras Al Khaimah 36°C 22°C

    Umm Al Quwain 34°C 23°C

    Liwa 38°C 24°C
