    UAE President receives Jordan King; leaders stress need for halt to regional escalation

    UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today received the Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein.

    The two Rulers met in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of UAE, and Chief of the Presidential Court.

    Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah II, who is on a fraternal visit to the country, exchanged greetings and best wishes on the occasion of the approaching Eid al-Fitr.

    During the meeting, the UAE President and Jordanian King discussed regional developments in light of the military escalation and its serious repercussions that threaten the security and stability of the region.

    The meeting addressed the blatant and ongoing Iranian aggression targeting the countries of the region, which constitutes a violation of state sovereignty, international laws and norms, and poses a threat to international peace and security. King Abdullah II reiterated Jordan’s solidarity with the UAE regarding all measures it takes to defend its sovereignty and security and ensure the safety of its citizens.

    Sheikh Mohamed also affirmed the UAE’s solidarity with Jordan in confronting the Iranian attacks that target its sovereignty and security.

    Both sides stressed the need for an immediate halt to the escalating military operations and for prioritising serious dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

    During the meeting, the leaders discussed the fraternal relations and various aspects of cooperation between the two countries. They stressed their keenness to continue coordination and joint work in a way that serves their development priorities and mutual interests and brings good to their peoples.

    King Abdullah II had arrived earlier in the country, where he was received at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai by Sheikh Mansour, Humaid Obaid Abushibs, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority, and a number of senior officials.
