While the SUV driver’s heroism went viral, police say stopping in the middle of a highway risks a larger disaster, and Abu Dhabi patrols reach accident scenes in just three to five minutes
Abu Dhabi: Brigadier Dr. Muslim Al Junaibi, Director of the Traffic Violations Collection Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, revealed that the accident involving multiple vehicles, shown in a video clip recently broadcast by Abu Dhabi Police resulted in the injury of seven people.
Al-Junaibi explained that while the sports utility vehicle’s (SUV) driver’s action of stopping to help is commendable, it is extremely dangerous in such circumstances. He warned individuals against endangering their own lives and the lives of others by stopping in the middle of highways to assist the injured, emphasising that such behaviour could lead to a larger disaster.
He emphasised the exceptional speed of response that characterises the Abu Dhabi police patrols, noting that they achieved a global indicator in response time ranging from only three to five minutes, where qualified patrols arrive to properly manage the accident site, secure the injured, transport them, and provide them with the necessary first aid, ensuring that no one is exposed to danger.
