ZÜRICH, 28th July, 2026 (WAM) — FIFA has successfully completed a thorough and global-scale anti-doping testing programme at the FIFA World Cup 2026™, with a total of 1,933 anti-doping tests carried out before and throughout the competition. Particular emphasis was placed on the pre‑tournament period, with an extensive out‑of‑competition testing programme during the six months preceding the competition. In this period, 1,250 anti-doping tests were carried out by FIFA’s Testing Authority, in close partnership with 14 National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs) and confederations across the globe. BEIJING, 28th July, 2026 (WAM) — China’s electronics industry posted a 96.9 percent year-on-year increase in profits in the first half (H1) of 2026, contributing 8.5 percentage points to the overall profit growth of major industrial firms, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Monday. Nvidia is seeking to promote responsible use of and trust in AI, in a response to the recent OpenAI Hugging Face incident. The Open Secure AI Alliance brings Nvidia together with numerous tech companies and institutes, including Cisco, SK Telecom, Microsoft and SpaceX, all of which are founding members pledged to “remediate and disclose vulnerabilities using open technologies”. UAE residents holding a valid residence permit for at least three consecutive years can now visit Montenegro without needing to obtain a visa in advance. This is part of a temporary exemption announced by the Montenegrin government. The visa-free exemption started on May 1 and will last until October 1, 2026. During this time, eligible UAE residents can visit Montenegro and stay for up to 10 days without a visa. ABU DHABI, 28th July, 2026 (WAM) — The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched the “Water Aid” initiative to mitigate the impact of extreme summer temperatures in the UAE and abroad, allocating an initial AED11.5 million for its implementation. A court in Abu Dhabi has recently rejected an employee’s claim for Dh100,000 in compensation from his employer for what he said were financial damages he suffered after the company wrongfully terminated his employment. MUNICH, 28th July, 2026 (WAM) — Global electric vehicle registrations continued to rise in the first half of the year, but growth slowed sharply, according to a study by consultancy PwC covering 43 major markets. Around 6.6 million fully battery-powered electric vehicles, or BEVs, were newly registered, up 9 percent from the same period last year. While that still represents growth, the pace has slowed considerably. Registrations had risen by more than a third in the first half of 2025 and by almost a third over the whole of last year.
