    Dubai, Abu Dhabi markets gain Dh37 billion in August 2026 as UAE indices rise

    The Dubai Financial Market added Dh12.8 billion to its market capitalisation, while the Abu Dhabi index climbed 0.96%. Here are the month’s biggest moments.

    Dubai: The Dubai Financial Market succeeded in achieving gains, which added to its market capitalisation, amounting to nearly Dh12.8 billion in August, with its index rising by 0.69%, supported by the performance of leading stocks in the main sectors, especially real estate, banking, industry, utilities and telecommunications stocks.

    The market capitalisation of listed stocks rose from Dh960.4 billion at the end of July to Dh973.14 billion at the end of August.

    Salama shares led the gains in Dubai’s stock market in August, jumping 41.64%. Mashreq Bank shares rose 28.4%, Agility Warehousing 18.4%, Sukoon Insurance 15.3%, Talabat 14.3%, National Cement 10.9%, United Foods 8.85%, Al Salam Bank – Bahrain 8%, Shuaa Capital 7.8%, and Emirates Reem Investments 7.65%.

    Conversely, shares of Dubai Refreshments fell 10.7%, Union Properties 10.5%, Al Salam Bank Sudan 9.3%, Alec Holding 6.85%, Emirates Investment 6.6%, Du 6.6%, Taaleem Holding 3.13%, Dubai Commercial Bank 3%, Deyaar Development 2.76%, and Takaful Emarat 2.4%.

    Emaar Properties captured the largest share of Dubai’s market liquidity in August with approximately Dh4.2 billion, followed by Emaar Development with Dh815.9 million, and then Emirates NBD attracting Dh943.9 million.

    Abu Dhabi market

    Likewise, the FTSE Abu Dhabi General Index ‘FADGI’ rose by 0.96% to 10,007.44 points, gaining about Dh24 billion during August.

    ADNOC Gas led the activity in the Abu Dhabi market, taking the largest share of total trading with a turnover of Dh2.99 billion in August, followed by Aldar Properties with a turnover of Dh2.06 billion, and then Alpha Abu Dhabi Holding, attracting Dh1.85 billion.

    In the Abu Dhabi market, shares of Al Seer Equipment rose 43.4%, Sharjah Cement 32.14%, Abu Dhabi Ports 23.9%, Fujairah Cement 23.6%, and Eshraq Investment 23.44%. In contrast, shares of Gulf Investment fell 12.92%, Oman and Emirates Investment 12.6%, E7-Adhanat 11.43%, Al Buhaira National Insurance 8.2%, and Dar Al Takaful 8.16%.

    Gains

    Local stock markets achieved gains that added to their market capitalisation of nearly Dh37 billion in August, supported by the performance of leading stocks in the main sectors, especially banking, industry, utilities and energy stocks.

    The market capitalisation of listed shares rose from Dh3.849 trillion at the end of July to Dh3.886 trillion at the end of August 2026, of which Dh2.913 trillion was for shares in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Dh973.14 billion was for shares in the Dubai Financial Market.

    Gulf markets

    At the level of Gulf stock exchanges, most indices witnessed an increase in performance during August, as the Saudi Tadawul rose by 5.07%, the Kuwaiti Tadawul by 0.79%, and Muscat by 4.5%, while the Qatar Stock Exchange declined by 1.15%, and the Bahrain Stock Exchange by 1.04%.

    UAE markets

    Local stock market indices declined at the close of yesterday’s session, with the Dubai Financial Market index falling 0.79% to 5,836 points and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange index dropping 0.37% to 10,007.44 points. Trading volume was distributed as follows: Dh1.93 billion in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Dh2.23 billion in the Dubai Financial Market.

    The Dubai market witnessed the execution of a large direct deal on Union Energy Holding Company (formerly Gulf Navigation) with a total value of Dh87.7 million, as the deal was executed on 28.1 million shares of the company’s stock, at a price of 3.12 dirhams per share.

    Saudi Arabia

    The Saudi market index ‘TASI’ declined by 0.3% to close at 11,127 points, with trading volume of 10.3 billion riyals.

    The shares of Naseej led the decliners, falling 10%, while Saudi Aramco and Al Rajhi Bank shares both dropped less than 1% to SAR 26.06 and SAR 67.45, respectively. Conversely, Misk shares led the gainers, rising 9%, and Al Ahli Saudi shares climbed 1% to SAR 43.30.

    Egypt

    Most Egyptian stock market indices declined in the last sessions of August, amid trading of 18.2 billion Egyptian pounds, and the market capitalisation lost about 5 billion Egyptian pounds to close at a level of 4.287 trillion Egyptian pounds.

    The EGX 30 index declined by 0.13% to close at 54,866 points, the EGX 30 Equal Weight index rose by 0.16% to close at 67,917 points, the EGX 30 Total Return index fell by 0.11% to close at 25,596 points, and the EGX35-LV index for low-volatility stocks increased by 0.25% to close at 6,809 points.

    The EGX 70 Equal Weight Index for small and medium-sized companies fell by 2.06% to close at 20,893 points, the EGX 100 Equal Weight Index fell by 1.51% to close at 27,262 points, and the Sharia Index fell by 0.1% to close at 6,548 points.
