Dubai Police reunited a traveller with her lost handbag and all its valuable contents after safeguarding it until she returned to Dubai, prompting her to praise the level of safety, honesty and professionalism she experienced in the UAE.

The General Department of Airport Security recovered the bag, which contained cash, a smartphone and several valuable personal belongings. The department then completed the necessary verification procedures and contacted the traveller, despite her having already left the country.

    Safeguarded until her return

Expert Brigadier Hamed Al Hashemi, Director of the General Department of Airport Security, said the traveller had accidentally left her handbag at Dubai Airport shortly before departing the UAE.

“The bag contained her smartphone, cash and other valuable belongings. She immediately contacted the relevant authorities at Dubai Airport to report it missing, and we began the necessary search, follow-up and verification procedures,” he said.

After locating and securing the bag in accordance with established procedures, Dubai Police contacted the traveller to inform her that it had been found.

“We offered to send the bag to the country she had travelled to or keep it safe until she returned to Dubai. She preferred to collect it upon her return, and when she came back, the bag was handed over to her with all its contents,” Al Hashemi said.

Safety and service at Dubai Airports

Al Hashemi stressed that Dubai Police is committed to enhancing the sense of safety and security among travellers at the emirate’s airports, while providing security and humanitarian services to passengers from around the world.

He said such efforts reflect Dubai’s global standing and embody the values of honesty, responsibility and rapid response that underpin Dubai Police operations.

    Traveller praises UAE safety

Following the experience, the traveller took to social media to express her gratitude to the UAE, Dubai Police and the personnel who assisted her.

She praised the high level of safety she experienced, as well as the professionalism and conduct of the police officers. She said the incident reinforced her confidence in the UAE’s high standards of safety and security and the care taken to protect the belongings of residents and visitors.
