Egypt is looking to expand its oil and gas drilling activity, with Anoc Drilling exploring opportunities to take part in the country’s wider onshore and offshore programme.
Egyptian Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi met Abdullah Ateya Al Messabi, CEO of Adnoc Drilling, to discuss potential partnerships and the company’s role in supporting efforts to increase domestic oil and gas production.
Adnoc Drilling is part of the ADNOC Group, the UAE’s state-owned energy company, and provides drilling and well-services solutions for onshore and offshore oil and gas operations.

Badawi said increasing drilling activity is a key pillar of the Ministry’s five-year plan to boost domestic crude oil and natural gas production by intensifying exploration, accelerating the development of discoveries, increasing well-drilling rates, and adopting advanced technologies and technical solutions.
He highlighted Adnoc Drilling’s technical and technological capabilities and advanced experience in well-drilling operations, stressing the importance of leveraging its expertise to support Egypt’s drilling and production plans.
He also said Egypt’s promising drilling and development opportunities create scope for new partnerships with international and regional drilling-services companies.
Al Messabi expressed Adnoc Drilling’s interest in strengthening its presence in Egypt and establishing partnerships with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and its subsidiaries.
Al Messabi stressed the importance of cooperation with Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC), citing its long track record and accumulated experience in drilling oil and gas wells in Egypt and abroad.
The two sides will hold specialised technical meetings in the coming period to explore cooperation opportunities and identify areas for participation in the targeted drilling programme.
