The UAE has strongly condemned and denounced acts of rioting, attempted vandalism, and attacks targeting its embassy and the residence of the Head of Mission in Damascus, Syria.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFa) stressed the UAE’s categorical rejection of such destructive acts, emphasising the need to protect diplomatic premises, missions, and personnel in line with international laws and norms — particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees the inviolability of diplomatic premises and the protection of diplomatic staff.

The UAE also called on the Syrian Arab Republic to uphold its obligations to protect the embassy and its personnel, investigate the circumstances surrounding the attacks, prevent their recurrence, and take all necessary legal measures to hold those responsible accountable.

Responding to the incidents, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed its firm rejection of any attack on or attempt to approach embassies and diplomatic missions accredited to Syria. The Ministry emphasised that these premises are protected under international law and diplomatic agreements, and are considered a symbol of relations between states and peoples.

The Ministry also expresses its categorical rejection and condemnation of any slogans or actions offensive to states or their symbols, emphasising that such behaviour contradicts the principles of mutual respect and international cooperation.
