Humidity climbing to 90% brings fog to coastal cities like Abu Dhabi by Saturday morning, while winds of up to 45km/h could cause blowing dust in internal regions
Dubai: Temperatures are in the low-40s today, with high humidity causing foggy conditions around the UAE.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather, with a chance of some convective cloud formation eastward and southward by afternoon, associated with rainfall.
Fog ahead
According to the NCM, humidity is expected to build up by nighttime and on Saturday morning over some coastal and internal areas, rising to 90% in these regions, leading to a high probability of mist formation in major cities, such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The NCM advises motorists to drive cautiously, as horizonal visibility may reduce because of the fog.
Mercury in the low-40s
Temperatures continue to hold steady in the low-40s across the UAE today.
Coastal and island regions will experience highs between 37°C and 42°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 41°C to 46°C.
Sharjah will reach 43°C, while Dubai and Umm Al Quwain will see 42°C temperatures. Abu Dhabi and Ajman will peak at 41°C, and Ras Al Khaimah will experience 40°C weather. Fujairah will be relatively cooler, at 35°C.
Blowing dust and calm seas
Light to moderate northwesterly to southeasterly winds, freshening at times, and reaching strong speeds of up to 45km/h in internal regions, are expected to cause blowing dust, according to the NCM. Stay safe by limiting exposure, and avoiding open or exposed areas where strong gusts can stir up dust.
Both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will experience slight to moderate sea conditions today. The NCM forecasts waves reaching heights of two feet on-shore and up to four feet off-shore.
Weekend outlook
Eastern regions of the country, such as Fujairah, are likely to experience rain on Saturday, with the NCM expecting temperatures across the UAE to continue their slow decline, while humidity remains high.
