UAE weather forecast: Rain, 47°C heat and weekend fog ahead

Dubai: Cloudy skies are returning today, as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts the possibility of rainfall in certain areas of the UAE.

According to the NCM, you can expect convective clouds to appear in northern and eastern regions today, and on Saturday morning. These clouds often bring scattered rain, so if you are in Fujairah, Kalba, and Khor Fakkan, you can expect light rainfall today and tomorrow.

The authorities advise residents and visitors to follow safety measures during these conditions, which include staying away from areas prone to flash floods, and being alert to downdraft winds that may cause loose objects to dislodge and fall.

High temperatures

Meanwhile, the mercury is holding steady in the high-40s today.

The NCM forecasts coastal and island regions to experience highs between 40°C and 46°C today, while internal regions will be even warmer, from 44°C to 49°C.

Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain will see highs of 46°C today, while Abu Dhabi will peak at 47°C. Fujairah will remain relatively cooler, with a peak of 37°C.

Calm seas

Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, according to the NCM. This means you can expect gentle waves, reaching heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.

Weekend outlook

As we head into the weekend, temperatures are expected to dip slightly over coastal areas. The NCM forecasts a corresponding rise in humidity, with the probability of mist formation in the early morning hours, so if you’re planning morning road trips, be cautious while driving, as the fog may affect horizontal visibility. The sea will continue to remain calm, ideal for evening visits to the beach.
