The NCM predicts convective cloud formation over Al Ain and Khor Fakkan, with slight sea conditions along both coasts.

Dubai: If you’re in regions like Al Ain or Khor Fakkan today, you’re likely to experience rainfall this afternoon.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), today will be partly cloudy in general, with a chance of some convective cloud formation eastward, associated with rainfall by afternoon.

The NCM advises residents and visitors to take the necessary precautions in such conditions, including avoiding being in open or elevated areas during lightning and thunder, and staying alert to downdraft winds that may cause loose objects to dislodge. Motorists are also advised to drive carefully due to reduced horizontal visibility.

    Mercury rising

Temperatures remain high across the country today.

The NCM forecasts coastal and island areas to record highs of 42°C to 47°C, while internal areas will range between 45°C and 50°C. Mountainous regions will be relatively cooler, with temperatures between 33°C and 39°C.

Among major cities, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah are expected to peak at 46°C today, while Al Ain will see the highest temperature at 47°C.

    Sea conditions

Light to moderate winds will average speeds of 10 to 25km/h today, and reach 35km/h in coastal areas. If you’re heading to the beach, both the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman are expected to see slight conditions, meaning gentle waves rising to a maximum of two feet on-shore, and three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

    Dubai 46°C 34°C

    Abu Dhabi 46°C 33°C

    Al Ain 47°C 36°C

    Sharjah 46°C 32°C

    Ajman 44°C 32°C
