The NCM expects humidity to reach 90% this weekend, in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, with motorists warned of reduced visibility in fog and mist.

Dubai: This weekend is being marked by hot temperatures and high humidity, with fog building up overnight.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather today, with a probability of some convective clouds formation eastward by afternoon. Cities like Fujairah can expect to see scattered rainfall.

Relative humidity (RH) is expected to increase tonight to a range of 70% to 90%, and remain high all through the weekend, especially on Sunday morning, over some coastal areas. The NCM advises driving carefully during the early morning hours, in fog and mist conditions, as visibility is likely to drop sharply.

    Temperatures in the high-40s

Temperatures are climbing this weekend, from the mid-40s into the high-40s, with the NCM expecting the mercury to decrease only by next Tuesday.

Today, coastal and island regions are set to experience highs between 39°C and 45°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 43°C to 48°C.

Abu Dhabi will reach 46°C today, while Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 45°C. Dubai and Sharjah will see highs of 43°C, and Fujairah will reach 37°C. Liwa will experience the highest temperature in the country today, of 48°C.

Gusts of dust, and calm seas

According to the NCM, light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, with average speeds of 10 to 25km/h and increase to 35km/h along the coast and 40km/h inland. Winds may stir up dust in open and exposed areas, so the authorities caution residents to take the necessary precautions in such situations.

However, you can expect slight sea conditions in both the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf throughout the weekend, so head to the beach to enjoy gentle waves reaching heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

    Dubai 43°C 32°C

    Abu Dhabi 46°C 29°C

    Al Ain 45°C 33°C

    Sharjah 43°C 29°C

    Ajman 42°C 31°C

    Fujairah 37°C 30°C

    Ras Al Khaimah 45°C 27°C
