UAE weekend weather: Temperatures rise to 42°C, fog warning early morning and rain possible in Fujairah

Humidity at 90% will bring mist and low visibility to Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the weekend, but calm seas make for ideal evening beach conditions

Dubai: After a week of falling temperatures, the mercury is gradually rising again this weekend, as relative humidity spikes to 90% across coastal, island and internal regions.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather this weekend, with a probability of convective cloud formation eastward, by afternoon today. These clouds may bring rainfall to regions like Fujairah and Khor Fakkan.

    Mercury rising

However, expect a slight increase in temperatures across the UAE today.

Coastal and island regions will experience highs between 37°C and 42°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 41°C to 46°C.

Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain will reach 42°C, while Dubai and Ajman will see 41°C temperatures. Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 40°C, while Fujairah will experience 35°C weather.

    High humidity continues

Last night’s humidity is expected to cause fog and mist across some coastal and internal areas early this morning, affecting cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

It’s a similar situation both tomorrow and on Monday morning, according to the NCM, so if you’re heading out early this weekend, be cautious on the road, as you may experience low horizontal visibility from dense fog.

    Fresh breeze, calm seas

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, with a speed of 10 – 25, will reach speeds of 35 km/hr. This maximum speed is classified as a fresh breeze (Force 5) on the Beaufort Scale, an empirical measure used by Met offices worldwide to relate wind speed to observed conditions at sea or land.

At this speed, according to the Royal Meteorological Society, based in the UK, small trees will begin to sway, and you will notice some ‘white horses’ forming on cresting waves.

It’s why the NCM forecasts calm sea conditions, both in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman this weekend. You can expect gentle waves reaching heights of two feet on-shore and up to three feet off-shore, making it the perfect weather for evening beach visits.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

    Dubai 41°C 32°C

    Abu Dhabi 42°C 32°C

    Al Ain 43°C 30°C

    Sharjah 42°C 31°C

    Ajman 41°C 32°C

    Fujairah 35°C 30°C

    Ras Al Khaimah 40°C 29°C

    Umm Al Quwain 42°C 30°C

    Liwa 44°C 26°C
