Dubai: The Dubai Diamond Conference 2026 witnessed the unveiling of the rare natural ‘Infinity’ diamond, classified as ‘Fancy Black’, weighing 888.88 carats. It was presented by Diamond Trading and transported by Brinks under specialised security arrangements.

The diamond, which was unveiled for the first time in Dubai during the conference, originated in the Democratic Republic of Congo and was cut from a 1,138-carat rough stone acquired by Andrew Cookson in 1975 on behalf of De Beers.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) examined the stone in 2013 and certified it as the largest single-crystal natural diamond it had ever examined and reported on. It then underwent cutting and polishing between 2022 and 2024, resulting in its final form, named ‘Infinity’, weighing 888.88 carats.

The diamond exhibition in Dubai provided global industry leaders with a rare opportunity to examine an exceptional natural diamond, underscoring the importance of the source, rarity, and mastery of cutting and polishing in determining the sustainable value of natural diamonds.
