Abu Dhabi: Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) confirmed that it has taken proactive measures to enhance the safety of its water production system following the oil spill from the tanker GEM NO. 2.
EWEC stated that these measures include monitoring seawater quality at intake points, testing produced and distributed water, and verifying its compliance with approved standards before pumping it into the network.
The company emphasised that these precautionary measures will not affect water supplies to consumers and stressed that the safety and quality of drinking water remain its top priority.
