ABU DHABI, 12th May, 2026 (WAM) — The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has monitored 1,976 digital advertisements issued by 89 higher education institutions (HEIs) and training centres during the first quarter of 2026, using an AI-enhanced proactive monitoring system. The initiative aims to ensure the quality of higher education programmes and academic training and protect students from non-compliant promotional practices. Kaspersky has recently detected phishing and business email compromise (BEC) attacks that are leveraging Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) – a cloud-based email service designed for businesses and developers to send and receive high-volume marketing, notification, and transactional emails (for instance, password resets). Because these emails are sent via a trusted service, they originate from reputable IP addresses, frequently include legitimate “.amazonses.com” identifiers. An Emirati teenager drowned after slipping into Wadi Adhen Dam in Ras Al Khaimah while trying to wash his feet near the water’s edge, according to his family.
