UAE weather forecast: Rain today, fog tonight, and the NCM says cooler temperatures are on the way

Dubai: As we head into the weekend, prepare for rain – there’s a good chance of rainfall in both eastern and western regions of the UAE today, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The NCM forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather today, with a probability of convective cloud formation eastward, near Fujairah, and westward, near Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The development of convective clouds means weather conditions in these regions could turn unsettled, and cause scattered rainfall.

Humidity continues

Meanwhile, relative humidity (RH) is still high across the UAE today, reaching a maximum of 90% along the coast. According to the NCM, humidity is set to increase by nighttime and on Saturday morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a probability of fog or mist formation in cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

Slow decline in temperatures

Temperatures are in the mid-30s across the country today, and expected to fall gradually over the weekend.

Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 38°C, while Dubai will reach 37°C. Ajman will see a high of 36°C, while Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah will remain the coolest emirates at 35°C.

Moderate sea conditions

Light to moderate winds, averaging speeds of 10 to 25km/h, will reach up to 40km/h in internal areas today. The NCM forecasts the following sea conditions:

Arabian Gulf: Slight to moderate sea conditions, with wave heights reaching up to two feet on-shore, and up to four feet off-shore.

Sea of Oman: Slight conditions, with gentle waves on-shore rising to two feet, and waves off-shore rising to three feet.

Weekend outlook

If you’re heading out on a road trip this weekend, don’t forget to pack umbrellas. Rainfall is expected in the eastern and northern regions of the country, due to convective cloud formation.
