Sharjah: Beaches in Sharjah city have been temporarily closed as part of precautionary measures following an oil spill from a maritime tanker.

The closure is aimed at preventing marine pollution resulting from the spill from reaching the beaches, according to an announcement published by Sharjah Media on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Specialised teams and relevant authorities in the emirate are taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the beaches and prevent pollution from reaching the shoreline.

Authorities have urged members of the public and sea-goers to comply with the instructions issued as part of the safety measures.

The public has also been advised to rely on official channels for information and to avoid spreading rumours.
