Dubai: Missing the smell of petrichor – the pleasant, earthy scent after rain falls on dry soil? Don’t worry – more rainfall is on the way across the UAE, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

    Rain expected all week long

The NCM expects fair to partly cloudy weather at the start of the week, with a chance of some convective cloud formation today in northern and eastern regions of the UAE, associated with rainfall.

Rain is going to be the dominating feature for the rest of the week. The NCM stated in its October summary report that the month is seeing above average rainfall in the UAE – about 5.2mm. With convective clouds expected to form in areas like Fujairah, Kalba, and other northern and eastern regions, rain is likely in these areas, over the next four days, according to the NCM.

    Mid-30s temperatures

Meanwhile, temperatures are also seeing a slow decline, even as humidity holds steady, especially during the night time, and in the early morning hours. Watch out for fog in cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where relative humidity is set to reach 85% and 80% respectively.

Today, Ras Al Khaimah will reach 37°C while Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain will all peak at 36°C. Sharjah will top out at 35°C, while Fujairah will remain the coolest emirate, with a high of 34°C.

    Moderate sea conditions

If you live along the western coastline, it may be best to avoid the beach today, due to rougher conditions than usual. The NCM forecasts the following:

Arabian Gulf: Slight to moderate sea conditions, with wave heights reaching up to two feet on-shore, and up to five feet off-shore.

Sea of Oman: Slight conditions, with gentle waves on-shore rising to two feet, and waves off-shore rising to three feet.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

    Dubai 36°C 25°C

    Abu Dhabi 36°C 26°C

    Al Ain 38°C 25°C

    Sharjah 35°C 26°C

    Ajman 36°C 25°C

    Fujairah 34°C 27°C

    Ras Al Khaimah 37°C 23°C

    Umm Al Quwain 36°C 25°C

    Liwa 38°C 23°C
